I had the same problem;
1) On the server where the database is installed, run DBMC as "administrator", and use SQL Administrator connection details
2), click on the demo databases so that the server name and the demo database and sub-items are ticked
3) click on the name of the demo database ( on my install it was "ISSIDEMOUS(18)")
4) this should then display the version number and say that it needs an upgrade.
5) select the upgrade option from the ribbon menu

About me
Aln Technology Ltd, are a software and support services company which has under gone numerous rebranding exercises over the last 30 years.
I joined the first iteration of this company “Gleneden System Ltd” back in August 1985 as a “junior Analyst/Programmer”, writing COBOL programs for the wholesale pharmaceutical Industry, and the company acted as a programming bureau for approximately 34 wholesalers.
Over the years I have seen changes in hardware, changes in computer operating systems and changes in the way the IT industry works.
My Main role in the company now is to do the following;
• Support existing customer base through support for computers systems, operating systems and application
• Support virtual hosting environment and infrastructure
• Continued support and development of the wholesale warehousing system “Phoenix”.
• QA support and testing of custom applications written in-house for either specific markets or specific customers
