Process Gift Card/Certificate in POS
Activation, recharging, and redeeming of gift cards can be easily done in Connected Sale Mobile POS. Upon activation, the customer can nominate a PIN to prevent fraudulent use of the gift card. Once activated, the gift card will be permanently associated with the customer's account. Furthermore, the gift card can be easily recharged and redeemed directly within the POS application as will be demonstrated in this article.

This feature is only available in Connected Business v14 and higher.
Activate Gift Card
To activate gift card,
- From the POS main screen, tap the Gift Card button. The Gift Card dialog box will be displayed.

This option is used for activating gift cards only. Gift certificates are automatically activated upon redemption. Furthermore, customers are only required to activate their gift card once.
- Enter the gift card serial number in the Gift Card field then tap View Details. A message prompt will be displayed indicating that the gift card is not activated yet. Tap Yes. The Activate Gift Card dialog box will be displayed.

- Enter and confirm the gift card PIN in the Enter PIN and Confirm PIN fields respectively. If there is a secondary display set up, tap the Allow User to Enter PIN to let the customer nominate their preferred gift card PIN.

- After entering the PIN, tap Activate. A message prompt will be displayed indicating that the gift card will be permanently associated to the current customer’s account. Tap Yes to proceed with the activation.

The Gift Card dialog box will be displayed showing the encrypted gift card serial number and available balance.

Recharge Gift Card
To recharge a gift card,
- From the POS main screen, tap the Gift Card button. The Gift Card dialog box will be displayed.

- Enter the gift card serial number then tap View Details. The PIN dialog box will be displayed.

- Enter gift card PIN then tap DONE. If there is secondary display set up, tap Allow User to Enter Pin to let the customer enter their gift card PIN then tap DONE. The Gift Card dialog box will be displayed with the gift card details.

- Enter the amount to be recharged in the Amount field then tap Recharge. The Payment Options dialog box will be displayed.

- Select the payment method to be used then process the payment to complete the transaction.

- After processing the payment, a print preview of the receipt (if Auto-Print Receipt is turned off) will be displayed showing the transaction details such as the item name, amount purchased, payment method used, and the last four digits of the gift card serial number.

Redeem Gift Card
To redeem gift card,
- From the POS main screen, select item to be checked out and tap Complete. The Payment Options dialog box will be displayed.

- Select Gift as the payment option. The Gift Card/Certificate dialog box will be displayed.

- If you are using a gift certificate, simply enter the gift certificate serial number, confirm the amount to be redeemed then tap DONE.

If you are using a gift card, enter the gift card serial number and PIN in the respective fields then tap OK to verify PIN. Once verified, confirm the amount to be redeemed then tap DONE.

A print preview of the receipt will be displayed (if Auto-Print Receipt is turned off) showing the transaction details such as the item name, item value, total amount tendered total amount redeemed, and the last four digits of the gift card/certificate serial number.

In any case where a POS transaction is created using a gift card/certificate that is not associated to the customer’s account, a message prompt will be displayed indicating that the gift card/certificate does not belong to the customer and the transaction will not be completed.
