Use Customer Pricing for Kit Items

This article talks about using customer pricing for kit items.

In previous versions, you can only control the kit pricing based on the type of pricing used (Kit Price or Item Price).

If Kit Price is used, the system will use the price configured for the kit components in the Kit Detail tab. When the kit is added to a sales order, it will be added as a single line item and the kit components as child records.

If Item Price is used, the system will use the pricing configured for each kit component in the Item Detail form. When the kit is added to a sales order, the kit components will be added as separate line items instead of the whole kit.

In Connected Business, an option has been added to use customer pricing for kit items when the pricing type is set to Kit Price. This option allows you to use the item pricing set for each kit component (as specified in the Item Detail form) when the pricing type is set to Kit Price.

Enable Customer Pricing on Kit Items

The following steps demonstrate how to enable the customer pricing option.

  1. Create a kit item by going to Inventory module > Item > New Item and the New Item Wizard will be displayed. Select Kit as the item type and go through the wizard to create the kit item (e.g. My Kit).

After enabling the customer pricing option in the Kit Detail form, configure the pricing for the kit components.

  1. Still in the Kit Detail form, specify the components for the kit in Option Group section. For this discussion we will set Stock A as the first component and Stock B as the second component.

  2. In the first component (Stock A), set the Sales Price to $10.

  4. It is expected that the total kit price is $30. Click Save to apply changes.

  5. After saving the changes, open the Item Detail form for each kit component (Stock A and Stock B).  You can either click on the item directly from the Kit Detail form or go to Inventory module > Item > Find Item and load the Item form.

  6. In the Item Detail form (Stock A), go to Pricing tab and set the Retail Price to $15.

  2. Select a customer from the list (e.g. Ziva David) and the Customer Detail form will be displayed.

  3. In the Customer Detail form, go to Pricing tab > Pricing Details section. Set the Default Price to Retail and Pricing Method to None.

  4. Click Save and Close to apply changes.

Apply Customer Pricing on Kit Items

Notice that the Total Kit Price indicated is the sum of the retail price for each kit component ($40) instead of the price indicated in the Kit Detail form ($30).
