Install Data Dictionary Add-In

This article talks about installing the Connected Business Data Dictionary SQL Add-In.

To install the Data Dictionary Add-In in MS SQL, launch the Connected Business Data Dictionary SQL Add-In installer. The installer is usually found in the same folder where the Connected Business installer is located. Go through the whole installation process and finish the setup wizard.

Once installed, open the Data Dictionary Add-In from MS SQL Server Management Studio.  To load the Data Dictionary, go to View menu > Connected Business Data Dictionary.

The Connected Business Data Dictionary Columns and Properties windows will be displayed.

The windows can be placed in different modes in the MS SQL window. To do this, right-click on any of the windows and select from among the placement modes.

• Dockable - This is the default mode used upon opening the Connected Business Data Dictionary.  In Dockable mode, you can place the windows anywhere among the four sides of the screen or in the center.  To dock the windows, click on the window and arrow icons will appear on all four sides of the screen and in the center.

  Click and drag the window over to your preferred docking location and click the arrow icon. The image below shows the windows being docked at the top and on the right side of the MS SQL window.

• Floating - In this mode, you can have the windows placed outside of the MS SQL screen and somewhere in your desktop for easy access. However, the windows also close whenever the MS SQL window is closed.

• Tabbed Document - In this mode, the windows are displayed in tabs which allow you to toggle between windows.

  You can also set the way the windows are tabbed in the screen. Right-click on any of the windows and select between New Horizontal Tab  Group and New Vertical Tab Group. The image below shows how the windows are tabbed in New Horizontal Tab Group and New Vertical Tab Group respectively.

  If you want to use the default placement of the windows in Tabbed Document mode, right click on any window and depending on the window, select either Move to the Next Tab Group or Move to the Previous Tab Group.
